چکیده
Background Weaning from mechanical ventilation to spontaneous breathing is associated with changes in the hemodynamic and autonomic nervous systems that are reflected by heart rate variability. Although cardiac dysrhythmias are an important manifestation of hemodynamic alterations, the impact of heart rate variability on the occurrence of dysrhythmias during weaning has not been specifically studied. Objectives To describe differences in heart rate variability spectral power and occurrence of cardiac dysrhythmias at baseline and during the initial trial of weaning from mechanical ventilation and to evaluate the impact of heart rate variability during weaning on occurrence of dysrhythmias. Method Continuous 3-lead electrocardiographic recordings were collected from 35 patients receiving mechanical ventilation for 24 hours at baseline and during the initial weaning trial. Heart rate variability was evaluated by using spectral power analysis. Results Low-frequency power increased (P= .04) and highfrequency and very-low-frequency power did not change during weaning. The mean number of supraventricular ectopic beats per hour during weaning was higher than the mean at baseline (P< .001); the mean of ventricular ectopic beats did not change. Low-frequency power was a predictor of ventricular and supraventricular ectopic beats during weaning (P< .001). High-frequency power was predictive of ventricular and supraventricular (P= .02) ectopic beats during weaning. Verylow-frequency power was predictive of ventricular ectopic beats (P< .001) only. Conclusion Heart rate variability power spectra during weaning were predictive of dysrhythmias. Comparison of the effect of pressure support ventilation and volume assured pressure support ventilation on weaning patients off mechanical ventilation after cardiac surgery
Background: Weaning from mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit is an important step in the treatment process. More patients in less than 6 hours after cardiac surgery can be separated from mechanical ventilation and extubated. However, 20-40% of patients after cardiac surgery, due to dysfunctional ventilator weaning response (DVWR), still remain under mechanical ventilation. Therefo...

Hemodynamic Stability Patients’ responses to both mechanical and spontaneous ventilation vary according to myocardial function and reserve capacity. Cardiac failure, which may not be apparent when a patient is receiving mechanical ventilation, can be exacerbated with ...

Abstract Aim. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of protocol of weaning from mechanical ventilation on the gastrointestinal function in people undergoing CABG. Background. The most common problems after cardiac surgery in the intensive care unit are change in vital signs, respiratory problems, unsuccessful separation from mechanical ventilation, and gastrointestinal problems. Due t...

INTRODUCTION Echocardiographic, electrocardiographic and other cardiorespiratory variables can change during weaning from mechanical ventilation. OBJECTIVES To analyze changes in cardiac function, using Doppler echocardiogram, in critical patients during weaning from mechanical ventilation, using two different weaning methods: pressure support ventilation and T-tube; and comparing patient sub...

Background & Aim: Mechanical ventilation is one of the most common treatments in neonatal intensive care unit and is however associated with many complications. One of the ways to reduce complications is providing nursing care according to standards. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the conformity of nursing care related to weaning neonates from mechanical ventilation to the...
